The cheek of it - pasted from a 2009 thread word for word. Mind you, my views still haven't changed. I tried to crowbar Black Label Society from an earlier HRH into this, but they're probably 4th. It was the 465 different intro tapes that started it...and it went downhill from there....
1) Manowar - Bristol Colston Hall 1984 (I think) - Grown men greased up with baby oil and posturing around the stage with big swords wearing furry nappies. Fucking Hell. Sorry, I know they've got a few fans here. You wouldn't let that sort of thing happen at HRH would you ? (Actually I'm over it now, I find it quite amusing and Turisas were excellent at HRHI. I even considered acquiring a horny helmet - but haven't we all at some time?) They did come up with one of my favourite lines at that gig which went something along the lines of "...some bands have big fancy stage sets. We don't. This is our stage set....AMP-LI-FIERS!!!" That bit I liked. 2) Marilyn Manson - at Metallica's Milton Keynes all dayer about 10 or so years ago. What a wanker. 12 year olds and middle class white Americans might find your bare arse shocking, but not me (creepy yes, shocking no). And throwing a sulk because we didn't react the way you expected pretty much sealed it for me. 3) Whitesnake - Birmingham NEC around 1987. It was at that time David Coverdale was dating that model Tawny Kitaen and we all had to know about it. Could've fitted a couple of extra songs in the time it took him to gloat about it. Twat.
It is possible I may have remembered all this wrong, but I don't think so.

There's just no accounting for some people's (absolute lack of) taste in music But then they're not Canadian so I shouldn't be surprised Mogwai bored me to tears, Damn Dice made me cringe and Valiant Thorr made me ears bleed...apart from that I think I've obviously been very lucky or just chosen well

As someone who isn't a fan I did see this 'performance' and it really wasn't very good. Fred was very drunk, they had no setlist. Gold Cobra had just come out and they were asking the audience what they should play. No one suggested any of the new songs. Fred was rambling and at one stage when he was talking to the crowd Wes just launched into Gold Cobra to shut him up. I think Wes also walked off during one song if memory serves me right. It was an embarrassment.

I've probably seen worse bands than the three on my list (anyone remember Groop Dogdrill?) but the thing all three of these bands did, and this to me is the ultimate sin for a live band, they bored me. They also all fell in the days I'd stick any band out to the end, before learning the world didn't end if I went "ah sod it, I'm going home"

Reckless Love - HRH. Only reason I was in the crowd was to get to the front for Crashdiet after them which I did. Never been so embarrassed in my life Killing Joke - Supporting The Crüe at the MEN, cringe worthy! Danzig - House of Blues in Vegas, he was proper shit and is so big he was knackered after 10 seconds
