Yep, I'm gonna review my own gig.
First off, I'll get the negative out the way. As it was our first gig it wasn't hard to tell we've only been together a couple months & haven't rehearsed for a week & a half. We fluffed endings, forgot how a couple started & there were bum notes aplenty. But we made light of it & got the surprisingly large crowd on our side early on.
We opened with LA Gus' No Mercy & went straight into KISS classic Deuce. So far so good. We kind of stumbled through the next few numbers, scrappy but tight if you know what I mean? By the time we got to the 'hits' part of the set we had people singing along, even unrehearsedly (is that a word?) stopping so the crowd could sing back at us. We weren't expecting that so take it a a success.
As ever, it was over before you know it. There were cries for more & we almost repeated a couple of songs but thought it best to leave on a high. We found out too late though that the band after us finished early & the landlord wanted us to go back on & do more. That was a good sign I thought.
A quick mention for Junior. It was his first ever gig & he was uber nervous but played great & looked like he was loving it. It was a joy looking over at him playing. I'm proud of the little sod.
All in all, a great night. If we can win a crowd over despite the many fk ups then I'm confident that we'll get better with each passing gig.
Here's to many more.
