Saw the tour announced and thought, "great, chance to see Alice again, I'm up for that." Now I've found out Ugly Kid Joe are supporting I can't wait, have always wanted to see them live.

I was thinking about this the other day, a few on here appear to be doing the WASP show on Friday 21st Sept at The Forum. May be the excuse you need :?:

Mission to go see Alice again, just want to see Ugly Kid Joe, they killed it at download, for all of their 6 songs.. Hopefully they'll do at least one of their own shows.

6 songs?? FFS. They got 90 minutes in Sweden. Thanks for the reminder why I don't go to Download ;)

Ugly Kid Joe were good but of the 9 bands I saw on Sunday they ranked 9th 8-)

This reminds me why I went to Download

i was surprised when they went offstage almost as soon as they started... seemed like 5 minutes! Really, really good though. Can't imagine they'd get all that much longer opening this bill so i'll give it a miss.

I do find that frustrating. Some of the greatest bands need time to draw an arc on stage (as one famous singer puts it). Take you on a journey through the gig, peaks and troughs, highs and lows. With seriously established bands (by that I mean bands with 5+ albums in their back catalogue) getting such a short set length the fans really miss out...........and often get the wrong impression of a bands ability. I actually think its sometimes detrimental to a band to take these tiny 'showcase' slots.

I'm already there LS. Doing WASP followed by the Marshall Amplification Wembley gig but I'm dragging Mr. Gypsy  Expect us not to be talking by the end of WASP when I want to go to the front and he sulks  Better make sure I have the room key

I'm confused. To see 9 bands by 5pm the festival must have started really early or the set times must have been shorter than they were at Download :?

Not if you have a well organised festival with good set times that runs 100% on time - having no queues to get in helps too, plus being searched by a pretty blonde girl isn't the worst thing to have to endure. Helps if it has stages within easy walking distance (no massive crowds to fight your way through) in a field owned by the festival orgainsers so it has plentiful real drainage and no mud to slow you down ;) . That way you know exactly the timings and can plan your day to maximise your band count. I reckon you could see a good chunk of (ie longer than Tesla got a Download!) every band on the bill if you really wanted to. I didn't try that but I reckon you could. To see 9 bands by 5pm I have to do a few half and halfs to do it (45 mins one band, 45 mins the other band) but if you know its going to be running on time thats actually easy to plan.
